Job Description:

 

Coordinates the payroll accounting function and payroll processing for Medical Mutual and its subsidiaries. Oversees the relationship between MMO and the external tax service in handling all federal, state and local payroll tax compliance. In addition, assists Payroll Manager with various payroll and employee expense reimbursement projects as needed.

 

Brief Description of Duties:

1. Coordinates all Payroll accounting responsibilities including reconciling general ledger accounts and making all necessary journal entries.

2. Coordinates bi-weekly Payroll processing for MMO and its subsidiaries including input of payroll wage and deduction information and transmitting, receiving and translating all payroll files.

3. Assist Manager with all year end processing requirements including income inclusions, W-2's and requests for special pay runs.

4. Oversees federal, state and local payroll tax compliance with external tax service including reconciliation and preparation of funding documents for payroll taxes, verification of tax service wages, payment and filings, completion and filing of applications for new tax locations and setting up payroll system information.

5. Assist manager as necessary with handling or processing of executive compensation programs, Internal Audit examination support and expense report reimbursement verifier training and compliance.

Assist Manager with integrating MMO acquisition entities into the MMO payroll system and processes.

6. Limited or indirect supervision or leadership responsibility over a group.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications or Equivalents:

 

1. Bachelor's degree required.

2. Minimum three to six years of progressive experience.

3. Demonstrated proficiency in a job related field of concentration with specialized skill exercising logic to distinguish fact from opinion, define and analyze problems, draw conclusions, evaluate solutions and communicate complex concepts.

4. Demonstrated working knowledge of accounting theory and practice as well as with tax compliance issues.

5. Demonstrated decision making ability to develop recommendations after reviewing alternative approaches, relevant historical information, analysis and/or company policies.

6. Basic proficiency using spreadsheet, word processing and database software.

7. Ability to interact well with all levels.

8. Enthusiastic self starter.
